Junkyard Academy

First things first, this is an all originals project. We have music online already and my ultimate goal is to get a lot of it all re-recorded and/or re-mixed/mastered.

The band's music has been compared, (flatteringly), to a lot of other existing bands, so to clue you in, here's how our business card reads:

"Fun, Bouncy, Energetic, Upbeat, Infectious, Outright, In-Your-Face, Danceable, Shameless, Rock Music" (the "In-Your-Face" part was told to my face by an industry professional who opted to use the five songs I gave him to review as his "commuting" music. Like I said...we're flattered.

But if you must know, here are the actual comparisons we've received;

'Barenaked Ladies' meets 'Pink Floyd' 'Ben Folds dates Blink 182' 'Early Gin Blossoms' goes 'Bowling For Soup' with 'Green Day' 'Rob Thomas' slaps 'Tom Petty' while 'They Might Be Giants' stands by and sips a Slurpee and slow-claps in approval while nodding. ^^^(okay, I wrote that one) And in one rare instance we were compared to The Beatles.

Lastly, (and I know I mentioned a bit of this, above, but it's worth mentioning):

Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day heard our stuff, (while we opened for him at The Ivy Room in Albany, California);

"They sound like Tom Petty meets The Kinks"

I'll take that.

I wrote a post on a craigslist post and the wording pretty much nails what I'm looking for, so here it is...

I'm on the mend from a hand operation that has kept me off my guitar for a while. I am a lead singer and songwriter looking for talent.
